Two Heliopolis projects take a leading role at Urbanpromo 2020
he urban regeneration of the former Marangoni site in Rovereto and the former Manifattura Tabacchi site in Verona are the two leading projects of the 2020 edition of Urban Promo Progetti per il Paese, a national event promoted by the National Institute of Architecture, the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation and the CRT Foundation, held from 17 to 20 November.
The Premio Urbanistica prize for the former Marangoni site
For the second consecutive year, the Premio Urbanistica prize in the New ways of living and manufacturing section was awarded to the Urban Regeneration project for the former Marangoni area. The Premio Urbanistica prize is now in its fourteenth edition and is awarded to projects that were exhibited in the previous edition of Urbanpromo. The projects awarded in the 2020 edition were chosen from those exhibited in the multimedia Gallery and in the exhibition held at the Nuvola Lavazza in Turin through votes cast by the visitors of Urbanpromo during the events.
The former Manifattura Tabacchi site in Verona: an example of Urban Regeneration
The Urban Regeneration of the former Manifattura Tabacchi site on the other hand was selected in the section dedicated to Ideas and Projects to redevelop parts of the city.
The project will redevelop a former industrial area, transforming it into an innovative destination place that will have a variety of functions and make it possible to reconnect the town with the ZAI district and the Trade Fair. The presentation was attended by Paolo Signoretti, President of Heliopolis and Ilaria Segala, Councillor for Urban Planning in Verona, to establish a new relationship between public and private sectors, respecting the different roles but with the common goal of making this redevelopment site a place of quality and beauty.
